Running a lucky draw

Pick winners from your checked-in attendees and show the result on a projector, live.

The pool is your checked-in attendees

Turn on the Lucky Draw module and the eligible pool for every draw is whoever has actually checked in to the event, not everyone who registered, and not people who RSVP'd but never showed up. That means you don't maintain a separate names list; check-in and the draw are already talking to each other.

Setting up prizes

  1. 1

    Add your prizes

From your event → Lucky Draw, list out what you're giving away. A prize name is enough to get started.

  2. 2

Decide whether someone can win more than once

By default, once an attendee wins a prize they're out of the pool for the rest of the draw. Turn on “allow repeat winners” if that's not the rule for your event.

  3. 3

    Open the fullscreen display window

This is the screen you project: it shows a drawing animation and then the winner's name, large enough to read from the back of the room. It runs in its own window so you can keep your dashboard open on the same laptop without the audience seeing it.

  4. 4

Draw, from your phone if you'd like

The draw itself can be triggered from the dashboard on your laptop, or from Remote control on your phone: hand the phone to whoever's hosting and they can run the draw from the stage without needing to be at a laptop.

What the display window can also do

The same fullscreen window doubles as a slide display if you've turned on the Slides module, and can show a plain prize announcement before drawing a winner, useful for building a little suspense between “here's prize three” and actually picking who gets it.

Tip

Both the display window and remote control update over a live connection, so there's no polling delay between pressing draw on your phone and the result appearing on the projector.

After the draw

  • Every win is recorded against the attendee's registration, visible in their detail panel on the attendee list, handy for following up on prize collection after the event.
  • You can re-run a draw for a specific prize if a winner isn't present or can't be reached, without affecting prizes already drawn.
